Being There Reaching Out

CPL Rachael Lorraine Hugo

Rachael in Iraq talking about the heat and being a Combat Medic

Rach always liked going outside the wire with the guys. She regularly volunteered to be sure her guys had a Medic incase someone got hurt.
There are times when our Soldiers go out without a Medic, and have to rely on a Combat Lifesaver. There just isn't enough Medics and Corpsman to go around.
They give their lives so that others may live.
We love and miss you Rach!

Rachel - I've only seen your photograph, so it was a very moving experience to see you in person, to hear you speak and to hear the obvious care and compassion you had for your fellow soldiers.
To Rachel's friends who composed this entry, I can only say thank you.
I'd also like to thank Cheryl, SSG Patrick Lybert's Mom, for introducing me to this site. We're Australians, living in the Middle East, and we fully support the troops of every country, including our own, who are engaged in operations in Afganistan and Iraq. On this Memorial Day we pause to honor all those who have paid the supreme sacrifice, and to remember the loved ones they left behind. Lest We Forget.

God Bless Rachael. To have heard her voice, her dedication verbalized is a gift treasured. Thank you for sharing this. My heart, my tears, my hugs.
