Being There Reaching Out

I remember the phone call from Jonathan one day and I was questioning why he was there and was he really making a difference in Iraq, he said Mom let me tell you about Mohamed this little boy that I met on my first mission, I sat and listened as my young son told me the sad story. I was out on a mission and we met several kids and one little boy I noticed did not have any shoes on his feet, Jonathan asked what his name was the little boy said my name is Mohamed, Jonathan than asked Mohamed where his shoes were and Mohamed said I don't have any shoes, Jonathan finished the mission. Jonathan could not get Mohamed out of his mind and for the next 6 months he carried a pair of shoes with him on every mission looking for the little boy with no shoes, he never did find Mohamed I don't know what happened to him and I don't think Jonathan does either as far as the shoes I don't know what happened to them either and I never asked. As I said I have been trying to think of a way for the past two years to keep Jonathans memory alive and what better way than to keep the mission alive by finding all the Mohameds in this world who don't have any shoes on there feet. I plan to continue this misson and will make sure that all the kids at least in Wisconsin will have shoes on there feet. Operation JAM how weird that is Jonathans initials and it just fits perfectly, I guess Jonathan was right all things happen for a reason. Again it is all in it's infancy stages and I am meeting with the Homeless shelters, Domestic Abuse shelters and the VA hospital to find the need and what I need to do to get this kicked off. I will finish the mission that my young wonderful son started. For you Scooter my your sacrifice never be Forgotten!

I love this Operation you have started. It is so wonderful to see so many of our Families turn their grief into JOY for others. Your Gold Star shines so very Bright tonight and every night during Operation JAM. Please let me know what I can do to help. I have young children, so I have a very soft spot when it comes to the needs of young children here and around the world!!!!

THis is a wonderful. You will have to let us knwo how we can assist when you get it up and going. I had a similar, it broke my heart Patrick's boots were never returned. It bothered me terribly. Then, when looking through photos of children receiving medical services at Camp Lybert, high up in the cold Mountains there was a photo of one little boy with what looked like just the soles of a soliders boots tied to his feet....I of course have no way of knowing if they would be Patrick's, that would be impossible to know...but it made me think if Patrick's boots were left somewhere how precious even the soles of his boots would have been to a little child. Everytime I start to think about Patrick's boots...I think of that photo and that child.

You never told me that story. Jonathan was the kind of person that this world needs more of. He was still young, but stable enough in making the right decisions and doing the right things. I can't remember hearing him w/true hatred towards anything. I don't know how you did it - but you raised a wonderful son Dawn. Feel Proud. Very Proud.
Your brother,
Greg

How beautiful! I think you should contact Mike Weaver on this site and ask that the Patriot Guard take the lead with you on this. They're all over the state and could do drop off and pick ups in their communities for Op Jam:>))
Love you-J.
