Attack 9-11-08 on Camp Lybert, Afghanistan - Soldier KIA

Pvt. Michael W. Murdock, 22, of Chocowinity, N.C., died Sept. 11 at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered at Combat Outpost Lybert, Afghanistan, when he was struck by enemy fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Hi Cheryl,
I was watching the McCain/Palin visit on TV tonight and I heard them mention Cheryl Lee Patrick, so I listened close. I heard John mentioned Patrick and the note you sent him along with a dog tag. What a great way to keep Patricks memory alive. Hugs, Brenda

Hi Cheryl :D

I see your online...I like the new feature!
Thank you for all the comments you have left for us!!
Concerning your latest message about the Sullivans, I TOTALLY agree with you.

I truly believe that the "Wearied look on their faces" relates to their opposition of the war in Iraq more than anything.

You are right when you talk about educating the "lost generations." This is why I am reaching out to our youth by going to history classes in our schools here in Madison to talk to the kids about the sacrificecs our Soldiers make for us, and them!

There are some kids who obviously just don't care but, there are many who do. When I explain to them that when it comes to our Soldiers, who have NO SAY in the matter, and what they, and our families go through, they suddenly have a different outlook on life, the wars, and what it means to truly sacrifice EVERYTHING for the freedom they and their parents enjoy, and take for granted, but also that of Mankind.

In closing, let me say, for the record, your son is my son!
I read the article you posted from your local paper about your son, and his SELFLESS actions that fateful day. He is WITHOUT QUESTION, one of my Heros, and he DESERVES the 3rd highest award our Nation can bestow upon a Soldier...The Silver Star!

May God bless Patrick, Rachael, Nathen Vacho, and all our Fallen, Wounded, and Fighting Warriors...and may the Good Lord bless the United States of America!

PS...I would like to talk with you when you have the time. You and our other family members may call me at 608-345-6464. If I don't answer, leave me a message with your phone #, and a good time to reach you. I am avaliable between the hours of 10 AM - 2 PM weekdays, and 10 AM - 8 PM on Weekends

It was my pleasure. Making the quilts brings me peace during my times of turmoil and bonds me with the families that receive them. I practically ran to the quilt shop to let the ladies know how happy everyone was to receive thier quilt. They too like to know their loving arms reach you.
